The American University College, Al-Geneina (AUCG)

The American University College, Al-Geneina (AUCG) is a project initiated in 2022 by the AUCG Board of Trustees with a main campus development plan targeting a student population of 5,000 by the year 2025.  It is part of Darfur Network for Development (DND) projects – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  The University is proposed to possess a 100 hectare plot of land that will house both the academic campus, as well as income-generating commercial development. The campus will be strategically located in Al-Geneina to serve an estimated local population of over one million, in addition to 2.5 million stranded & internally displaced individuals (IDPs), and about 200,000 Sudanese refugees in the eastern border of Chad.  AUCG will also serve students from all regions of Sudan and neighboring countries.  Following the establishment of AUCG, it is envisaged that the University will build-on one main campus with possible satellite campuses elsewhere in Sudan.  With its tolerant and welcoming environment, security, peace and growing economy, Al-Geneina provides the ideal location for The American University College campus.

The goal of the university is to serve student population that are left behind and deprived from the necessary education.  Because of the continuous wars and ethnic conflicts, which created a wide educational gab in the war-torn and displaced communities, it becomes crucial to form a private institution in order to develop future leaders & decision makers so as to promote and preserve a peaceful greater Sudan with liberty and prosperity for all its citizens and for the entire region.   It will educate students on issues of importance to the region in critical areas such as: administration, energy, environment, water resources, as well as to provide the opportunity to foster transformation to a more understanding & harmonious interaction among different ethnic tribes.  This ultimately would amend the cognitive lag leftover from years of conflicts in Darfur regions, and eradicate poverty & poor health.
